DRAMATIC WORKS Musical Comedy: Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell— a gay farce based on Miles Gloriosus (and on the lost Greek play Alazon “the Braggart”), set in the 21st Century, in a time in which straights are allowed to serve in the armed forces as long as they remain in the closet—as long as straights don’t tell, gays don’t ask. 12 original songs, 9 M, one set. (In progress, expected completion December 2007.) Full Length Plays: !Corked—a comedy murder mystery farce. In a castle in the middle of the Chesapeake Bay, friends play parlor games that result in the triple murder! 4 M, 3 W, one set. Ran for twelve performances, July 14- 30, 2006 at James Lee Theatre, Falls Church, Virginia. Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell — a drama. AAA-Zeus’ Meat Packing Company—a metaphysical drama. When flesh dies, souls slither through a sewer pipe into a meat packing company. There, the God-Son Thing longs for life before the Big Bang— when he and the Adam-Eve-Satan Thing co-existed peacefully in a Great Egg before the light shattered the darkness of the universe. That’s when the Adam- Eve-Satan Thing kicked the Great Egg and propelled both entities into the void. Adam-Eve-Satan Thing settled on the Earth and subdued it; but God-Son Thing longs to return to the safety of the Egg. 4 M, 2 F, one set. (In progress, expected completion March 2008.) One-Act Plays: The Lesbian and the Flying Pig—a drama. A Lesbian CEO is haunted by memories of her childhood that occurred under the neon sign at the Flying Pig BBQ and Grill in Selma, Alabama, 1 M, 2 F, one set. A dying former CIA agent reveals the identity of the real murderer of John F. Kennedy. The play has three twist endings. 2 M, simple set. Eternal Bliss—a monologue. A gay attorney, who has unknowingly had sex with a minor and is now being blackmailed, contemplates suicide. 1 M, simple set. Her defense is that after her group of 7th graders ran amok in the Washington zoo (when the girls, covered in cotton candy, were attacked by African Killer Bees, and the boys got into a pissing contest while standing on top of the stalls), the bus driver refused to take them home. 1 M, 1 F, simple set. To be performed by Twenty-first Century Productions, Washington, DC, July 2008 as part of 3 Murdered Clowns. Kenu Hear the Wild Birds Sing? Kenu? Kenu?—a drama. A crippled blind man, who burned down houses to release caged song birds, is tracked down by one of his former victims and is taught how to listen as the wild birds sing. 2 M, simple set. This play was a finalist in the prestigious Kernodle Playwrighting Contest in March 2008.
